unfortunately they do! I was at the mall the other day with my kids when a man asked me what I do. I told him that i was a pastor and he asked, “How are you dealing with things now with the Davinci Code and the Gospel of Judas, it can’t be easy times for you.”
The more we talked, the more it became clear that he is under the impression that Christianity has been debunked once and for all.

Spin can be a bad thing. You notice that a fact that’s been underplayed is that this particular document was unearthed 1970’s and is NOT news to theological scholars.

I agree with Juniper; seems like the trolls dig around for sludge like this every Easter time. Sadly, it serves to distract most of the world, and even a lot of Christendom, from the real potential of Holy Week. It also shows what a hunger there is for “spiritual” things, even if they are only pseudo-spiritual. But! Jesus told us to pray for those who persecute us. Have a blessed Holy Week and Easter, Father.

Its not so much that people swallow this garbage, but unfortunately it does cause some folk to question their faith. Not enough to investigate(sad), but enough to slip just a bit away.
Sort of, “did God really say”?
