In my Christmas Eve sermon, I discuss how to watch, make haste, and ponder. Like the shepherds, who had the disposition to be available, we watch. Like Mary, in response to the Incarnation, we ought to ‘make haste.’ And still like Mary, in her contemplative response toward our Lord, we ponder. Also, follow along, as I unpack what we see in Andrei Rublev’s Icon, below. It’s a wonderful example of contemplation on the Incarnation.
I discuss honoring and emulating Mary. As Mary did, we can ask ourselves, does our faith give us a sense of urgency? Are we willing to do whatever Jesus says? And are we willing to do His will, come what may?
