Are you asking rhetorically? Or are your questions Socratic in method so as to instruct folks through instigating contemplation on this subject? You seem to be asking from somewhere deep down inside and wondering yourself. Am I wrong?

What Costa said! Seriously, though, I’ve noticed that the Padre usually doesn’t ask a question unless he already has an opinion about it. But he’s good at stirring up dialogue that way. And as for the Church persevering and adapting, might I say, of course she will! Seems to me that she’s endured worse trials than po-mo America.
